I meet new people everywhere I go with whom I fall easily into English or Dutch conversation. When they ask me how I spend my time, I don’t say “I write about Healing Our World” rather, I say “I write about Trike Trek* and about The Boulevard**”
“Trike Trek* ? Is that like Star Trek “ I say “Well it’s certainly a journey of discovery, yet where man has boldly been before - and it has and end station in mind…. that’s called the Boulevard**.” The questions roll and I speak of transforming abandoned land and buildings in a semi remote region. I touch on past experiences helping out on Green alternative, architectural / agricultural projects, and on recent great leaps forward.
Then comes the “Wheres” and the “Hows”. My reply is France or maybe Spain, together with a community of visitors, bringing the skills needed, preferably creatives who can also write, maybe play an instrument. “Hippies ?” “Not really, it’s gonna be mostly hard work, plus some time to relax, cook and laugh together. Bring the kids not the drugs”
“Accommodation then ?” “ Tents, mobile homes, a bunkbarn, all whilst we build a thruple of tiny houses, yurts, reroof the workshops and the house”
“How’s about feeding them ?” “Local growers, small traders, at first, avoid the supermarkets with their PFAs and plastic wraps. Meanwhile work our own land, alongside experimenting with sustainable Non-GM, flood & drought resistant crops”
“Soooo, vegetarian ?” “A goal, not an absolute, rather an opportunity for Non Veggies to try without judgmental pressure… it worked for me !”
“Religion ?” “When did a religion ever stop a war”
At which point there is often a brief pause, followed by “How can I follow progress, find out more ?” I give them my Substack details. Just a few subscribe - job done, and Hey, since This Creative Adventure was launched a few weeks ago - it already has almost 80% as many Followers as my other stack has after 17 months. Wow….
Meanwhile….. This Winter I will travel by public transport to visit the Pyrenees, a mountain range that follows, not me, but the border betwixt France & Spain, from Biarritz to Perpignan, a range split down the middle by a long lush valley. Ergo two Southward Sunshine faces basking in Sol’s benevolence, for a total of over 400 miles, or 600 kilometers (whichever you find the most comfortable stroll). There so very many derelict properties, that prices have tumbled to approx 10% of what similar homes cost here in the Netherlands. Yes there will be heavy rebuilding costs, but - As We Go - NOT, All Up Front,…. plus - I have the will, the passion and considerable experience to input.
Would you like to see photos of this beautiful region ? Shots will be included here from coming trips, in postings of both Trike Trek* and The Boulevard**. Did you read Trike Trek* News on the 26th Sept ? As we further develop the solar powered camper trike, the bonus will be the ability to explore the remoter parts of the Pyrenees.
Rather than stay in Hotels for the winter, I’d much prefer to visit existing communities and inexpensive Air B&Bs, to get a better feel for the area and it’s people. With their permission, I will post on their own Green Projects and Lifestyles.
I am also happy, en voyage, to House sit, Pet sit, Teach English or Dutch (I can communicate in French and German) - so Dear Readers, if you have contacts along the Border, please tell them about any of the above. Use Direct Messaging to contact me via Substack, or, for greater discretion, use my email biz3d.art@gmail.com
Other ways to help / support …. Following will get you some of my brief posts on Notes; Subscribing for FREE, either here or on Maurice’s Substack

Have you considered that no matter how good your writing skills are, they are unlikely on their own, to get your posts noticed !

Can I afford to invest in multiple courses or is there an alternative ?
Maybe one day in the future, you would like to visit The Boulevard, Take a Stroll with us in the Sunshine, Chat about Healing Our World, and then writing about the experience. Thankyou for reading this post, Peace, Maurice…

Trike Trek really appeals to me. While I wouldn't fancy powering my way up those Pyrenean climbs, I am interested in the role of human-powered transportation.
What a wonderful project, Maurice! And it sounds like a great way of scoping out the area.
